Arctic Ice Vanishing

This is the sort of empirical evidence that doesn't help me know much. When I was in Alaska this past summer, they pointed out the original size of the glacier--as it stood 250 years ago. In short, the glacier's been melting for 250 years. When I noted this was rather before the Industrial Revolution, somebody on the boat tried to serious tell me that "Chinese wood burning" could have triggered the melt.

Uh huh. Or the earth has just been going through a warming trend and human activity doesn't have all that much to do with it. I will continue to await something stronger than this before taking the advice to panic from Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio.
